The restaurant Rótin takes its name from the personal roots behind the hotel itself. In 1974, Jón Óskarsson and Einar Kristinsson opened Hotel Mosfell here in Hella.
Mosfell quickly became an essential part of the community and welcomed guests with warmth for decades. The hotel was later sold, but now, years later, it is back in the hands of Jón’s family.
Rótin – meaning The Root – symbolizes a reconnection with family. We cook from scratch, using fresh ingredients with Italian culinary tradition at the forefront – but the heart is right here, in Hella.
Enjoy – Gjörið svo vel
